Podcast of the Month – The Centre for Personalised Medicine
This month, we’re thrilled to spotlight The Centre for Personalised Medicine Podcast as our July Podcast of the Month. A compelling series that delves into one of the most rapidly evolving areas in healthcare today: personalised medicine.
Whether you’re a scientist, a healthcare professional, or just curious about the future of medicine, this podcast offers insightful conversations that unpack both the promise and the complexity of tailoring medical treatment to individual patients.

The Centre for Personalised Medicine (CPM) is a collaboration between the University of Oxford’s Centre for Human Genetics and St Anne’s College. Its mission? To explore personalised medicine not only through a scientific lens, but also through ethical, legal, and societal perspectives. This multidimensional approach is what makes the CPM podcast such a valuable resource.
The first series of the podcast kicked off with interviews featuring members of The Centre for Personalised Medicine’s advisory board. These conversations gave listeners a fascinating look into the personal journeys of professionals who have shaped the field, as well as their candid reflections on what personalised medicine means today and where it might lead us.
The second series shifted focus to the Clinical Ethics, Law and Society (CELS) group – an interdisciplinary team based at Oxford and Southampton. These episodes tackle some of the most urgent ethical questions raised by personalised medicine. Topics ranged from genetic privacy and consent to the implications of using AI in diagnostics and treatment. The series asked bold questions: How do we ensure fairness and equity in access to personalised care? Who is accountable when algorithms go wrong?
The third series explores the core themes outlined in The Centre for Personalised Medicine’s newly launched ten-year strategy – a forward-looking document that highlights the various domains where personalised medicine is making an impact. These include genomics, data science, digital health, and public engagement. The podcast will also explore cross-cutting issues that influence all aspects of personalised medicine, from data privacy and health inequalities to education and policy development.
