At Research Podcasts, we believe podcasting is one of the most effective ways for researchers to connect with audience. Whether you want to create impact, share knowledge, or explore ideas in a fresh way, podcasting opens up new conversations.

On Monday 17 November 2025, we’re running an Introduction to Podcasting workshop in partnership with the Sociological Review Foundation. This practical, interactive session is designed for academics at all career stages who want to learn how to use the podcast form to communicate research.

What to expect

Over the course of the day, you’ll learn:

– How to develop a podcast idea from your research

– The essentials of recording and editing audio

– What it takes to launch, grow, and sustain your show

We’ll share case studies from across our production network, give you hands-on tips, and answer your questions about the podcasting process.

Your facilitators

The workshop will be led by our Director of Training, Krissie Brighty-Glover, who has supported countless researchers in bringing their projects to life through podcasting.

You’ll also hear from:

Agata Lisiak – sociologist, migration scholar, and host of Spatial Delight, who will share her experiences of making an independent research podcast.

Alice Bloch – journalist and Executive Producer of Uncommon Sense, with a long career producing BBC Radio 4’s Thinking Allowed and other programmes. Alice will also offer one-to-one follow-up feedback for every participant.

Together, they’ll provide both the creative and practical perspectives you need to start podcasting with confidence.

Why join us?

This isn’t a passive webinar. With only 12 places available, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to get tailored advice, test your ideas, and learn from experienced producers and podcasters.

By the end of the day, you’ll understand how to turn your research into engaging audio that resonates with listeners, and you’ll leave with a clear sense of your next steps.
